Why this job matters
The nature of delivery will be bespoke Network, IT and voice solutions for Business Customers. You'll be directly engaging with customers at in leadership roles (i.e. IT Manager, Programme Manager etc.) and be viewed by them as leading significant pieces of delivery that are highly visible and recognisable. As a leader in the professional community of Project and Programme Managers you will be expected to promote and shape project management methods / tools. In addition you will be expected to ensure that your team conforms with governance / standards set out by the PMO (or contract where mandated).
What you'll be doing
• Works with an integrated team in the delivery of end-to-end projects contributing to commercial benefit, deliver on time, within budget and to agreed quality criteria from conception through to market launch and transition into operations.
• Monitors issue escalations, project risks, dependencies and project changes, ensuring timely intervention and communication to stakeholders.
• Contributes to the development, documentation and implementation of projects/ programmes and change initiatives in line with BT Group policies and strategies, defining and maintaining realistic project plans and monitoring project finances and progress against agreed quality and performance criteria.
• Defines, documents and executes smaller or less complex projects/ programmes, agreeing and reviewing project approach, engagement and communications plans, and quality and performance criteria with project partners.
• Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in Project/Programme Management & PMO, e.g., agile methodologies such as LEAN, Six Sigma.
• Mentors other Project/Programme Management & PMO professionals, helping to improve the team's abilities by acting as a technical resources
• Influences stakeholders inside and if required outside of BT Group: work collaboratively with business unit partners and corporate support teams to drive strategy execution and partner on segment or functional strategy projects.
• Proactively identifies and manages risk through regular assessment and diligent execution of controls and mitigations, proactively raising any concerns.
• Ensures commercial obligations, risks and interdependencies defined within external delivery contracts are applied to their projects/programmes and operates the project/programme governance to manage those elements.

• Ability to interpret Commercial Contracts and identify area of risk / opportunity. • Ability to build a culture of continuous learning and development and mutual support. • Experience as a Project Manager, delivering complex solutions. The value of delivery (Not contract) will typically have been between £5 Million and £20 Million but this should not be viewed as the deciding dimension of this role versus others.
• Experience of delivering a broad range of IT and network technology. Ideally this should be in a range of industry sectors.
• Expected to have attained an advanced project management qualification - Prince 2 Practitioner, MSP, APM RPP etc.
