Job title: VP, MANAGEMENT REPORTING, GROUP FP&A

Purpose of the role:

This is a Group FP&A role responsible for managing the end-to-end service delivery of OPCO reporting, Business Pillars (CIB, IWPB, Regional FP&A), FRP/ Forecasting processes, and driving financial performance management across the Group. The jobholder will be required to build strong and effective relationships across stakeholder framework and senior leadership, providing for Business Analytics, Executive MI and insights, Cost reporting and business finance reporting and at the same time, providing constructive challenge and an independent perspective. The role holder will be the face-off between Finance Operations teams, country stakeholders, Finance Operations senior management and country/regional/global CFO teams.

In this role, you will:

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • The role holder will be accountable and responsible for oversight of all internal and external reporting requirements for the Business/Region. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Lead the coordination, consolidation, review, and challenge of business plans and forecasts covering the income statement, balance sheet, Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA), and other performance measures.
  • Providing quantitative and qualitative analysis to support business decision making and ensure maintaining a regular engagement with senior management
  • Deliver best-in-class forward-looking MI and insights to maximize the performance of the bank and deliver on its financial targets
  • Ensure monthly production of ad hoc reporting to internal stakeholders including the OpCo and quarterly reporting
  • Produce well-written papers for OPCO and other senior committees
  • Navigate enhancements to analysis of business performance across various products and markets, including variance analysis of forecasts versus actuals.
  • Lead Digitization of MI and FP&A processes using the latest tools and technologies, including artificial intelligence, in partnership with Business teams and the COO function.
  • Assess the business plan under different scenarios – including iterations on the business strategy - and forecasting to steer the business and ensure targets are achieved.
  • Be a strategic partner to the Global Head of FP&A : this can range from rapid responses to questions requiring financial expertise to ad hoc analysis focused on returns enhancement to helping to shape the business outlook through strategic planning sessions.
  • The role holder will be responsible to oversee the timely delivery and continuous development of external & internal reporting requirements of the Business or region and to ensure understanding of the drivers of performance and its impact on Group results.
  • Manage and maintain an active engagement with the Business/Entity to understand the Business drivers of the core components.
  • Implement their continuous focus on process simplification and automation
  • Responsible for ensuring a robust control environment around all reporting and data sources.
  • Independently identify opportunities and actively engage and support in execution of strategic projects and commercial initiatives along with representation in key forums.

Leadership & Teamwork 

  • Lead and Manage teams, ensuring high performance and promoting a strong control culture.
  • Recruit, train and mentor staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Manage change effectively, helping teams to adapt to organizational transformations and new technologies.
  • Demonstrate leadership, including the provision of guidance, coaching and timely feedback to improve effectiveness.
  • Support the retention of key talent, and the attracting and developing new talent and skills.
  • Engage with leads and colleagues across all functions and entities to promote consistency and teamwork.
  • Develop and understand existing processes and systems / data flows and the target end-state.
  • Design and enable training on transformation – with a particular focus on developing commercial acumen, business partnering capabilities and technical accounting knowledge.
  • Provide an escalation point for the resolution of issues and support the management of workloads to meet business critical deadlines. 
  • Building a workforce that has the skills of the future and is more fungible across the wider function to more effectively manage capacity constraints.
  • Operational Requirements
  • Proven track record of designing, implementing and operating processes
  • Operations management including process governance and stakeholder management
  • Experience in designing, implementing and validating the effectiveness of process controls
  • Proven track record of driving re-engineering, process synergies and technology-based solutions
  • Ensuring adequate controls across all deliverables to mitigate operational risk and ensure the highest levels of operational excellence.

To be successful you will:

Technical Skill Requirements

  • Recognized professional accounting qualification (CA) with 15+ years of experience predominantly in Finance, including in leadership positions managing complex requirements from senior stakeholders.
  • Experience of operating and influencing in senior governance forums, handling auditors
  • Strong experience and understanding across financial accounting, financial reporting and extensive experience of business partnering in a Business / Group facing process
  • Strong understanding of banking and non-banking products/ segments
  • Strong formal written reporting skills and experience of drafting papers for Board-level audiences.
  • Create culture of innovation, experimentation (including failure and learnings from those failures), sharing and collaborating.

  • Ability to connect performance drivers and market factors.
  • Ability to communicate complex and technical messages to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to understand and apply technical accounting and regulatory concepts to the management and oversight of a business line.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to frequent and multiple changes
  • Ability to work under pressure, report to tight deadlines and deal effectively with issues as they arise
  • Ability to gauge and articulate information across levels and manage business relations with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively manage the competing views and opinions of multiple senior stakeholders and ensure timely delivery
  • Effective team player – very collaborative, communicates progress, status and issues on a regular basis.
  • High degree of motivation and commitment
