Why this job matters

Cash is a fundamental metric in the performance of the business, so is key to both internal and external stakeholders. It plays a big role in determining the reaction of external analysts to our published results which in turn impacts the share price. Predictable cash growth allows investment across both our mobile and fixed networks as well as maintaining a strong dividend to our shareholders. 

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering key cash targets by managing cash performance and driving finance initiatives that improve short‑ and long‑term outcomes.
  • Owning the end‑to‑end process for BoE and Securitisation, including performance reporting to senior management and ensuring governance and accuracy across all activities.
  • Identifying new cash initiatives to support sustainable and predictable cash growth, proactively challenging current processes and highlighting opportunities.
  • Supporting month‑end processes including journal preparation and MTP submissions for BoE and Securitisation, ensuring all entries are accurate, timely, and compliant.
  • Providing support to the wider cash team by responding to additional requests and contributing to cross‑team priorities as needed.
  • Championing continuous improvement, enhancing processes within your own remit and promoting best practice across the broader Consumer Finance team.
  • Managing key stakeholders including external banks, third‑party providers, and Group Treasury, ensuring effective collaboration and clear communication.

The skills you'll need

  • Professional accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with evidence of ongoing development. (Essential)
  • Proven ability to influence and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, acting as a trusted partner across finance and the wider business. (Essential)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly—both verbally and in writing—and tailor messages to different audiences while maintaining the right level of detail. (Essential)
  • Bold, confident thinking with the willingness to challenge the status quo and bring forward new ideas that improve ways of working.
  • Strong change‑delivery skills, with the ability to drive, embed, and sustain improvements across processes and teams.
  • Broad finance knowledge and experience, ideally gained across a range of activities such as reporting, planning, controls, or commercial finance.
  • High level of professionalism, demonstrating resilience and the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, complex, and matrixed organisation.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft tools
