Product Manager – Microsoft 365 Workplace Technology (Digital Employee Experience)

Role summary

This is not a traditional Product Manager role building customer-facing products.

This role owns Tesco’s Microsoft 365 workplace platform and Digital Employee Experience (DEX). You’ll act as the single accountable owner for how M365 is implemented, evolved, and adopted across the organisation — covering collaboration, identity, voice/video, and employee productivity tools.

The focus is on platform ownership, stakeholder alignment, and driving adoption and value from Microsoft technologies, rather than feature development.

You’ll work closely with engineering, security, architecture, and business stakeholders to translate organisational needs into M365 capabilities and ensure the platform delivers a high-quality employee experience.

Think of this as “General Manager of M365 internally.”

What you’ll actually be doing

  • Own the M365 workplace platform roadmap (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, identity, collaboration tools, etc.)

  • Act as the single product owner for Digital Employee Experience

  • Translate business needs into platform capabilities and rollout plans

  • Partner with engineering and vendors to implement Microsoft solutions

  • Drive adoption, enablement, and change management

  • Define standards, governance, and best practices for workplace technology

  • Prioritise initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups

  • Track success via adoption, engagement, and experience metrics

  • Shape how Microsoft’s roadmap is applied inside Tesco

  • Balance technical constraints with employee experience outcomes

There is no feature build backlog — success is measured by platform effectiveness, adoption, and business impact.

✅Essentials (must have)

Candidates should demonstrate most of the following:

Core experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 / Modern Workplace (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, O365, identity, collaboration)

  • Experience owning or leading an internal platform or digital workplace

  • Background in Digital Employee Experience (DEX), workplace transformation, or large-scale M365 rollout

  • Proven experience driving adoption, enablement, and organisational change

Operating model

  • Comfortable working in enterprise environments with complex stakeholders

  • Experience translating business needs into technical platform outcomes

  • Strong stakeholder management across IT, security, engineering, and business teams

  • Able to operate as a single accountable owner across multiple workplace domains

Product mindset (adapted)

  • Can prioritise, roadmap, and make trade-offs

  • Outcome-oriented (adoption, experience, stability)

  • Structured approach to decision-making

  • Comfortable owning ambiguity

Typical backgrounds include:

  • Digital Workplace Lead

  • M365 Platform Manager

  • Workplace Technology Manager

  • M365 Consultant moving into product/platform ownership

  • Internal IT Product Manager

⭐Nice to haves

  • Previous experience in consulting or Microsoft partner environments

  • Engineering or technical background transitioning into product/platform roles

  • Experience with DEX tooling or employee experience analytics

  • Formal Product Manager or Product Owner experience

  • Experience working with external vendors/system integrators
