We’re looking for a Data Platform Engineer to help us build and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing data platforms. You’ll work closely with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to ensure seamless data flow and quality across our infrastructure. This is a fantastic opportunity to help define our engineering approach and implement a modern data ecosystem that supports our transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write modular, well-tested code using modern engineering practices to ensure maintainability and performance.

  • Monitor, optimise, and troubleshoot data systems to ensure reliability, security, and scalability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data solutions aligned with business goals and technical standards.

  • Support data-related queries and incidents, ensuring timely and professional resolution while continuously improving processes.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies, particularly Azure, and familiarity with platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, RedShift, or Azure Synapse.

  • Proficiency in Python and Terraform, with a solid understanding of Lakehouse architecture, dimensional modelling, and scalable data pipelines.

  • Strong grasp of modern engineering practices, including Agile delivery, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, and Git-based workflows.

  • Collaborative mindset, building trusted relationships across teams and contributing to a seamless, integrated data ecosystem.

  • Clear and professional communicator, open about challenges and successes, and committed to delivering high-quality, maintainable solutions.

  • Continuous learner, passionate about improvement and staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends.

Benefits
We’re always looking to recognise and reward our employees for the work they do. As a valued member of The AA team, you’ll have access to a range of benefits including:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with a holiday buying scheme

  • Worksave pension scheme with up to 7% employer contribution

  • Free AA breakdown membership from Day 1 plus 50% discount for family and friends

  • Discounts on AA products including car and home insurance

  • Employee discount scheme with access to car salary sacrifice scheme and healthcare, shopping, and holiday discounts

  • Company funded life assurance

  • Diverse learning and development opportunities to support career progression

  • Dedicated Employee Assistance Programme and 24/7 remote GP service for you and your family
