Some careers shine brighter than others.

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering Specialist.

In this role, you will:

  • Embed resilience and control requirements into EUS Service Governance routines (service reviews, quality forums, action tracking, reporting) so resilience is managed alongside service performance.
  • Partner with Service Governance leads to define consistent measures, thresholds, and continuous improvement loops for resilience outcomes.
  • Provide risk-based insights to EUS leadership to prioritise remediation, target investment, and make clear risk/benefit trade-offs.
  • Influence EUS platform leads and cross-CTO stakeholders to align on resilience outcomes, dependencies, and delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate delivery across IT Operations, Cybersecurity, Technology Risk, Operational Resilience/BCM, and Third-Party Risk to ensure consistent execution and escalation.
  • Operationalise evolving regulatory and control expectations (e.g., TRCB, observability/testing, cyber mandates, INCM) and maintain audit-ready evidence with timely gap closure.
  • Run/support resilience maturity assessments, translate findings into prioritised roadmaps, and maintain KRIs/KPIs and executive dashboards (control health, testing status, top risks, remediation progress).
  • Strengthen accountability and capability: identify systemic risks, support incident/exercise escalations and governance communications, and deliver playbooks/templates/coaching to uplift resilience practices across EUS.

To be successful in this role:

  • Experience in operational resilience, technology risk, controls, service reliability, or IT governance in a regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of control design, evidence, and risk-based prioritisation.
  • Ability to translate mandates into practical operational/technical actions and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills in a matrix environment.
  • Experience producing metrics and executive reporting; strong written communication.
  • Composed, structured approach during incidents/exercises.
  • Familiarity with observability, resilience testing, and service management practices (monitoring, runbooks, problem management, recovery testing).
  • Exposure to third-party resilience/supplier risk.

You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
