Role purpose |
|
Business Development Managers are accountable for driving cross-sell and new business growth across VirginmediaO2’s large enterprise and public sector customer base.
They are responsible for building account growth plans for assigned customers, working with Customer Success Managers to qualify, develop and pursue opportunities and leading virtual teams to secure customer commitment to new business.
Key accountabilities are to:
• Delivering sales (TCV) targets from allocated accounts • Generating leads and converting leads to orders
Business Development Managers will carry a new TCV target for named customers, or other measures of new business growth as set out in the commission scheme

Key responsibilities & accountabilities |
|
|
· |
Build Account Plan for the assigned Nurture and Grow Expand customers, establishing the account landscape, stakeholder map and prioritized set of prospecting activities |
|
· |
Collaborate with Customer Success teams to qualify and prioritise opportunities identified from Sustain accounts, and establish relationships with senior buying influencers within their assigned customer base |
|
· |
Engage with assigned Nurture and Growth customers to position VirginmediaO2’s portfolio, identify customer needs and develop new cross-sell opportunities |
|
· |
Manage individual pipeline to enable adequate cover to meet new TCV targets, including leading virtual teams across customer success, marketing, solution design and commercial to secure agreement to support qualified opportunities |
|
· |
Lead the development of customer propositions, typically in excess of £250k in value, securing internal approval to propose and presenting the benefits of the proposal to the customer. |

Asking for and securing customer commitment to the sale |
|
· |
Leading customer negotiations and co-ordinating contract management, solution assurance and other inputs required to secure signed contracts |
|
· |
Handing over new contract wins to customer success teams, including confirmation of account landscape, introduction to key stakeholders and identification of future pipeline opportunities |

Essential skills, knowledge, or experience (Inc. professional or technical qualifications) |
|
|
· |
Proven experience of working in a strong sales environment with skillset aligned to identifying developing and closing large and complex new sales opportunities within an existing or new customer |
|
· |
Proven experience of establishing and growing relationships with key stakeholders and senior decision makers for our larger customers to deliver new revenue |
|
· |
Strong Sales & Commercial knowledge and expertise with a proven ability to define and shape commercial outcomes for both customers and VMO2 |
|
· |
Strong experience and solid capability of leading and managing highly engaged cross functional customer focussed teams to pursue larger new business opportunities |
|
· |
Demonstrable experience working with Contracts (interpreting and writing) combined with strong experience of managing negotiations and closing large £500k + contract agreements |

· |
Proven experience of accurately reporting sales forecasts through efficient use of CRM systems (Salesforce) |
