Join Barclays as a Principal Engineer Apigee X, where you'll be part of a platform engineering team that leads the design, implementation, and governance of our new External API gateway solution for our enterprise. This role will be instrumental in shaping our API strategy, ensuring scalability, security, and performance of our digital platforms, and mentoring engineering teams on best practices.

To be successful as a Principal Engineer Apigee X, you should have experience with:

  • Software engineering, with a focus on API management and integration.
  • In-depth knowledge of Google Apigee X, including Apigee Hybrid and cloud-native deployments.
  • Ample understanding of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, Kafka, and OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, and containerized microservices architectures.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, Terraform).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab) and API testing frameworks.

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

This role will be based in our London office.
