## **1\. Role Overview**
Mercor is collaborating with a leading AI lab on a large-scale AI training initiative focused on improving scientific reasoning, empirical analysis, and evidence-based explanation in advanced language models. We’re seeking experienced Science and Nature experts to contribute by creating and evaluating science-related prompts and responses.
This is a multilingual opportunity. We are specifically seeking experts who are fluent and professionally active in one or more of the following languages:
**Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, German, Arabic, Thai, Tamil, or Hindi.**
Importantly, we are not looking for translation ability alone. Candidates must have real-world professional experience working in scientific or applied natural science fields within their linguistic and cultural context — including familiarity with local research standards, scientific terminology, regulatory frameworks (where applicable), and professional norms.
## **2\. Key Responsibilities**
- Author realistic science prompts spanning biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, earth science, ecology, and related disciplines
- Review and revise AI-generated responses for factual accuracy, methodological soundness, clarity, and adherence to scientific standards
- Write high-quality human-authored “gold” responses for complex, data-driven, or multi-step scientific questions
- Create controlled prompt variations that test subtle differences in experimental setup, assumptions, environmental conditions, or theoretical framing
- Evaluate outputs across different tones (technical, explanatory, educational) and instruction constraints
- Identify model failure cases involving flawed reasoning, misuse of scientific principles, incorrect data interpretation, or unsupported claims
## **3\. Ideal Qualifications**
- Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or a related field)
- **2+ years of professional work experience** in scientific research, laboratory work, field research, applied science, science communication, or a related domain
- Active professional familiarity with scientific practice in at least one of the following languages: Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, German, Arabic, Thai, Tamil, or Hindi
- Strong understanding of experimental design, data interpretation, and discipline-specific methodologies within your linguistic and cultural context
- Excellent analytical and written communication skills in the target language
- Ability to exercise careful, evidence-based editorial judgment
