We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of a Sr. Associate Director, Software Engineering Specialist

We are working on an application XSSL (Cross Product Settlement Service Layer). XSSL provides Integration services to the HSBC Markets systems that are involved in Payment and other Settlement related processing, connecting them to the systems implemented in the retail bank that hold our accounts, payment creation systems and the gateways to external systems such as the Swift network and local RTGS. We refer to these retail systems as being owned by DBS (Digital Business Services) to distinguish them from the systems owned by Markets (under Markets and Securities Settlements - MSS).

In this role, you will:

• Own ITSO responsibilities, including end-to-end ownership of Risk & Controls issues and remediation tracking.
• Managing XSSL Development Team, including multiple POD teams to deliver business functionalities in DevOps approach
• Act as an application analyst/developer, delivering fit-for-purpose application solutions for the business.
• Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, analyse needs, and recommend viable IT solutions. Design, develop, and implement solutions in line with established standards, architecture principles, within the agreed timeframes, cost and best practices. 
• Facilitate clear communication across key stakeholders to align scope, priorities, and delivery outcomes. Maintain relationships with key stakeholders and business contacts.
• Conduct and support testing to ensure the quality of all deliverables.Produce documentation on system solutions to ensure their maintainability and smooth implementation.
• Maintain production stabilities and provide support to production incidents.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Degree in IT or a related discipline.
• 14+ years in IT/business systems development, ideally on large global investment-banking programmes.
• Strong DevOps capability (CI/CD pipeline setup, automated testing) and Agile delivery; solid project/change/time management across the project lifecycle.
• Experience developing and supporting banking applications, including production support management.
• Hands-on Java development (Java 8, Spring Boot) on Linux; application servers (Tomcat, Jetty).
• Vulnerability management; strong analytical, design, problem-solving, planning and organisational skills; fast learner.
• Oracle Coherence and Oracle Database; JIRA, Confluence and GitHub; CI/CD tooling (Maven, Jenkins, Ansible); JavaScript & HTML.
• Excellent written/spoken English; proactive, independent under pressure. Advantage: SWIFT/ISO20022, treasury products/systems, back-office workflows; nice-to-have UI development and microservice architecture experience.
