Heathrow is continually enhancing how it manages energy and water by using a vast, sophisticated network of meters that help the airport optimise resource use and support future sustainability goals. With thousands of electricity, gas, and water meters across the estate, accurate and well‑maintained metering plays a vital role in supporting efficient operations and informed decision‑making. The Metering Coordinator helps keep this system performing at its best by ensuring meters are functional, calibrated, and integrated with Heathrow’s asset and data platforms. By coordinating upgrades and new installations, the role directly supports smarter energy management, improved billing accuracy, and Heathrow’s broader journey towards decarbonisation and net zero.
Responsibilities
- Support the Business Support Centre by ensuring accurate utility billing data to reduce disputes and enable effective cost recovery.
- Provide reliable metering data to assist operational teams and support Heathrow’s decarbonisation and sustainability initiatives.
- Coordinate metering coverage to enable energy optimisation across Heathrow’s buildings and assets.
- Monitor metre functionality and coordinate maintenance, calibration, and fault resolution, ensuring all meters remain accurate and reliable.
- Identify opportunities for additional metering installations to improve data visibility and operational efficiency.
- Plan and oversee the integration of metering assets into Maximo, ensuring accuracy and alignment with energy dashboards and reporting tools.
- Build strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring collaborative delivery of metering services.
- Support the Energy and Metering Manager with the delivery of team objectives and ongoing projects.
- Assist the wider Utilities team as needed, contributing to shared goals across the department.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and/or experience of electrical and/or metering systems and supporting infrastructure.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify opportunities for energy efficiency and operational improvement.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with suppliers, third parties, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to plan, prioritise and work to deadlines.
- High level of IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
- Full UK Driving licence
Desirable
- Working knowledge and experience of the Maximo asset management system.
