As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Consumer and Community Banking CAP Technology team, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks
Make decisions that influence teamsâ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
Creates a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation
Executes solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
Works in an Agile development environment with team members, including Product Owners
Develops secure, high-quality production code, review and debug code written by others, and drive decisions influencing product design, application functionality, and technical operations
Ensures quality and completeness of the product through unit, component, integration, and end-to-end testing
Serve as a subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus and actively contribute to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the end-to-end development life cycle
Influence peers and project decision makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
Required qualifications, skills, and capabilities
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, 2+ years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
Experience managing software engineering teams to deliver high-quality, production-grade solutions
Experience guiding teams to accomplish objectives aligned with strategic initiatives
Demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience
Hands-on experience in Java, REST services, Spring and Spring Boot
Hands-on experience with AWS especially Terraform, EKS, ECS, and Lambda
Hands-on experience with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra)
Collaborate with various stakeholders and independently tackle design and functionality challenges with minimal oversight
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operation stability
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with strong customer focus, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred qualifications, skills and capabilities:
Experience recruiting, mentoring, and rewarding top talent
Experience with distributed streaming platforms (Kafka)
Experience building data pipelines with AWS especially Glue, EMR, MSK, and Kinesis
Experience using Snowflake, Databricks or a similar PaaS offering
