As a Security Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Cybersecurity and Technology Controls team, you are part of an agile team that delivers software solutions to meet functional and user requirements while preventing misuse and malicious behavior. You execute basic security engineering solutions, develop and troubleshoot components, and gain skills to grow within your role. We focus on secure, scalable technology that supports the firm’s objectives. You help foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.

Job responsibilities

• Execute standard security solutions in accordance with playbooks to satisfy security requirements for internal clients
• Write secure, high-quality code using at least one programming language with limited guidance
• Apply specialized tools to analyze and summarize probability and impact of threats when determining vulnerabilities
• Support delivery of continuity-related awareness, training, and educational activities
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in software solutions
• Contribute to the improvement of coding hygiene and system architecture
• Gather, analyze, and develop reporting from diverse data sets to drive continuous improvement

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on security engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience in React, Java/J2EE, Microservices, Spring, Spring Data JPA, CI/CD, and database knowledge
• Demonstrable ability to code in one or more languages
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• Working knowledge of information and network security, IT risk management, and architectural concepts and patterns
• Proficient in specialized tools (e.g., vulnerability scanner) used to analyze incident data
