Senior Director, Financial Crimes Compliance (Data & Analytics)

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Director, Financial Crimes Compliance (Data & Analytics) to join our Financial Crimes Compliance team; this team provides oversight of the day-to-day and strategic implementation of the Firm’s enterprise-wide financial crime prevention efforts. This includes providing the appropriate governance, oversight and execution of the firms Financial Crimes Compliance programs. This role is located in New York City, New York.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
Lead the firm’s efforts to monitor the data quality and lineage of key data elements used to identify AML/TF risks posed by the Firm’s products, services, and transactions, and will test the controls used to mitigate these risks
Implement and execute procedures to meet existing and upcoming regulatory requirements, expectations, and industry standards.
Verify compliance with complex regulatory and policy requirements; make recommendations aligned to evolving industry standards.
Lead enhancements to BNY’s transaction monitoring system, including data acquisition, development of new rules, and rule optimization.
Partner with Senior Management of the Bank’s FCC team to fine-tune AML systems and controls.
Support the Bank’s Part 504 certification process from a transaction monitoring system perspective.
Lead periodic testing of the transaction monitoring system by testing rules and data.
Support FCC Senior Leadership to perform risk and typology assessments to identify new rules for transaction monitoring.
Partner with Technology, Business, and Operations teams to develop new system controls for transaction monitoring and reporting.
Support audit/validation requests for transaction monitoring systems.
Perform root cause analysis and support the resolution of production issues.
Build and maintain process documentation.
Balance numerous projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Participate in ad-hoc remediation or business-specific projects, including examinations and/or external audits.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required; MBA, JD, or professional certification preferred.
12–15+ years of total work experience, with 4–6 years of management experience preferred.
Background in Financial Services, Audit, or Compliance preferred.
Experience with financial services compliance and/or with the assigned products, services, or business lines/areas and the relevant laws, regulations, and rules of applicable regulators.
Deep knowledge of U.S. and global AML/TF laws and regulations across banks and non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs).
Ability to interpret changes to laws and regulations and communicate impacts to colleagues and senior management.
Exceptional understanding of AML processes, especially transaction monitoring, and strong familiarity with industry best practices.
Proven ability to define and execute AML/TF change programs and initiatives.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and stakeholder management, including senior leadership.
Demonstrated capability to build strong working relationships with outside regulators, government officials, and senior business unit managers to ensure timely delivery of information.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,500 and $300,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
