    What You’ll Be Doing at UKTL 
    Be the Connector - You’ll act as a strategic bridge between internal teams and key stakeholders across the UK and global telecoms landscape. You’ll translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights that drive collaboration and decision-making at the highest levels.
    Stay Curious - You’re a seasoned technologist with a deep-rooted curiosity—always exploring how things work and staying ahead of emerging technologies. You’ll bring thought leadership and technical depth to UKTL’s innovation agenda.
    Own the Architecture - You’ll lead the development and evolution of UKTL’s high-level telecom network architecture, ensuring it remains cutting-edge, secure, and aligned with future needs. You’ll confidently communicate complex systems to technically savvy audiences, influencing national and international conversations.
    Scan the Horizon - You’ll monitor global telecom trends and emerging technologies with a sharp eye on security, resilience, and strategic relevance. Your insights will shape UKTL’s direction and help anticipate the needs of government, industry, and society.
    Shape the Roadmap - You’ll co-create UKTL’s technology strategy, working closely with operators, vendors, academia, and government to align with national priorities. You’ll help define the innovation roadmap that positions the UK as a global leader in telecoms.
    Guide and Collaborate - You’ll mentor and support less technical colleagues and stakeholders, making complex technologies accessible and impactful. Your ability to communicate clearly and influence effectively will be key to driving change and building consensus.

    Successful Applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Birmingham at least twice a week

  • About You

  • Your Background
    • Likely from a telecoms operator or vendor, giving you insight into our key stakeholders.
    • Up-to-date knowledge of mobile networking and ideally fixed networking technologies (including PON).
    • Broad and deep understanding of telecom architecture and how components interconnect.
    • Ability to explain complex technologies to non-experts.
    • Excellent grasp of current UK and global telecom deployments and future trends.
    • Awareness of how emerging technologies like satellite, IoT, and AI will impact the industry.
    • Understanding of UK telecom regulations and operational security.
    • Confident interacting with senior stakeholders across operators, vendors, and  government.
