To be successful as a Senior Java Developer, you should have experience with:
Must have strong proficiency in Java 17+ features, Stream API, collections framework, multithreading, exception handling, and object-oriented design principles. Good understanding of JVM internals and memory management.
Must have solid experience with Spring Boot 3.x, Spring MVC for REST APIs, Spring Data JPA for database operations, Spring Security for authentication/authorization (JWT, OAuth2), and dependency injection. Knowledge of application properties, profiles, and auto-configuration.
Must have hands-on experience building REST APIs with proper HTTP methods, status codes, request/response handling, input validation using Bean Validation, exception handling and API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI
Must have working knowledge of Oracle for relational databases (SQL queries, stored procedures, indexing)
Must be familiar with Git version control and Maven/Gradle build tools.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
Nice to have basic knowledge of Apache Kafka for event-driven architecture, producing and consuming messages, implementing Kafka listeners in Spring Boot, handling serialization/deserialization, and understanding topics, partitions.
Nice to have practical experience with Docker (creating Dockerfiles, docker-compose for local development), basic Kubernetes concepts, and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI or Jenkins.
