Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. Our teams operate within a flexible hybrid working model, however on-site requirements vary by project, so the ability to travel as required to meet client needs is essential.
Your future duties and responsibilities
In this role, you will contribute to the successful delivery of digital and enterprise-scale solutions by designing, developing, and executing effective testing activities. Working as part of an Agile or Waterfall delivery team, you’ll help ensure that software meets quality, performance, and security expectations. You’ll support the development of automated tests, participate in test planning, and work closely with developers, analysts, and delivery teams to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle.
You’ll be encouraged to take ownership of your work, bring ideas that improve testing practices, and continue developing your technical capabilities while being supported by experienced colleagues and a collaborative engineering community.
Key responsibilities:
• Design & Execute: Develop and run functional and non-functional tests to validate system behaviour and requirements.
• Automate & Improve: Create and maintain automated tests using modern languages and testing tools.
• Analyse & Plan: Review requirements and contribute to test planning, ensuring appropriate coverage and traceability.
• Assure Quality: Identify, record, and track defects while supporting the delivery of reliable software releases.
• Collaborate & Contribute: Work closely with developers, analysts, and DevOps teams to embed testing across the delivery lifecycle.
• Integrate & Support: Contribute to testing within CI/CD pipelines and support continuous improvement of testing approaches.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring hands-on experience in software testing and automation, alongside a strong understanding of quality assurance practices within modern delivery environments. You’ll be a collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem solving and a desire to continuously develop your skills.
You should have:
• Experience working as a Test Engineer within Agile or Waterfall delivery environments.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language used for automation (e.g. Python, Java, C#).
• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and testing tools.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
• Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools.
• Knowledge of risk-based testing and quality assurance processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• ISTQB or similar testing certification is desirable.
