About the role
The Finance manager role business partners to deliver financial & commercial support, backed up with insight to key stakeholders, driving optimal business decisions and delivering better financial and commercial performance through effective controls.
Role specific:
- The role is within a team at the centre of the largest strategic investment in BT Group, that of delivering Full Fibre across the country, working closely with the business to deliver innovative solutions to enable fibre deployment in apartments/multiple dwelling units (MDUs), whilst optimising costs through better controls.
- This is a hugely exciting role, having direct influence working with 2 Regional Delivery Directors and their teams. You will also work closely with the Senior Programme Manager within the Fibre First team.
- You will be building insight and working collaboratively with operational stakeholders to ensure the correct commercial decisions are made across the different build initiatives within the MDU programme.
What you’ll be doing
- Commercial and decision support: Commercial / financial support for regional directors within Complex Engineering and Fibre First business units. Influencing financial decisions for the team through sound financial and commercial insight.
- Communicating and stakeholder management: Communicating with stakeholders in the operational teams enabling and delivering the build, along with other key stakeholders across wider teams. Working with commercial, operational & transformation/innovation teams to understand and model the long-term delivery plan and provide financial insight to decision making.
- Financial performance: Accountable for monthly reporting, outlook and budgeting/MTP for the regional directors. This includes a full range of financial accountabilities linking operational metrics (productivity, volume delivery) to financial performance.
- Management of Risks and Opportunities: Through close collaboration across your operational and finance stakeholders you will have a deep understanding of R&O’s. Working with teams to either mitigate or deliver.
Essential Skills / Experience
- An ability to communicate clearly & concisely - cutting through the complexity of the information.
- Influences decision making across finance & non-finance audiences at all levels, using supporting data and analysis at the right level of detail.
- Strong stakeholder management with the ability to manage mulitple stakeholders and projects, working to tight deadlines.
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Ability to set your own agenda.
- Advisor and coach to others both within own team and elsewhere.
- Qualified accountant / Further qualification to support specialism with significant PQE.
- Leads, champions and manages conflicting priorities.
- Ability to manage ambiguity.
