JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary

As a Senior AI/ML Portfolio Lead, you will play a critical role in enabling AI/ML use cases during ideation, promoting them to our AI portfolio, and managing the portfolio. You will oversee the AI and machine learning portfolio, ensuring alignment with firmwide AI governance frameworks. This role partners closely with the Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO), AI4Tech programs, AITMC, CyberTwin initiatives, and other key stakeholders to ensure robust governance, risk management, and strategic portfolio execution of AI-driven technology solutions.

This position requires deep expertise in AI governance, portfolio management, and technology risk controls. You will drive strategic initiatives that align with JPMC's Protect the Firm strategy and AI governance standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Guide onboarding of AI/ML use cases for rapid ideation, manage secure user permissions, support experiments, analyze results, facilitate decision reviews, and maintain user engagement.
  • Oversee the CTC AI/ML Lab platform with AWS services, supporting the full ML lifecycle (data preparation, model training, testing, deployment).
  • Ensure adherence to JPMC data protection policies and AWS security best practices; implement access controls and encryption.
  • Monitor ML model and platform infrastructure performance on AWS; optimize resource usage and scaling.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, developers, and business units; facilitate training and support for platform users.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to model accuracy, data privacy, and cloud service disruptions.
  • Lead AI portfolio management of AI/ML use cases that successfully graduate out of the ideation stage from the laboratory within CTC, overseeing use cases, model lifecycle governance (MDLC), and risk/compliance assessments with CDAO and AI4Tech teams.
  • Ensure alignment with AI governance frameworks, including CAB approvals, model registration, and compliance with firm policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive strategic planning, prioritization, and resource allocation for AI initiatives across technology and control environments.
  • Lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders to foster responsible AI adoption and continuous improvement.
  • Lead reporting and metrics to assess the impact of the AI portfolio on productivity, risk reduction, and employee experience, while representing CTC in firmwide AI governance forums to shape policy and advance industry leadership.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in technology portfolio management, risk management, or AI governance within a large financial institution or comparable environment.
  • Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, SageMaker), with strong ML concepts/workflows, and terraform experience.
  • Ability to write/maintain scripts for automation and patch deployment; familiarity with Python, Java, or similar languages.
  • Experience managing cloud-based infrastructure/applications; knowledge of system monitoring tools.
  • Experience applying cybersecurity principles and practices in cloud environments by implementing security patches, ensuring compliance, diagnosing and resolving technical issues, and assessing the impact of patches and updates.
  • Manage projects related to patch creation/deployment; coordinate with cross-functional teams and manage timelines.
  • Proven leadership at SVP or equivalent level managing complex AI/ML portfolios or technology risk programs.
  • Deep understanding of AI governance frameworks, model lifecycle management, regulatory compliance, and risk controls.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams (data science, tech ops, risk, compliance).
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills at senior leadership levels.
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and drive firmwide adoption of governance standards.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Familiarity with JPMC internal tools (LUMA, MISIX, SEAL) for AI model/use case governance.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and AI operationalization frameworks.
  • Knowledge of agentic AI, generative AI, and emerging AI technologies relevant to financial services.
  • Prior experience in cybersecurity or technology controls within a regulated financial services firm.
  • Strong knowledge of JPMC's AI4Tech strategy, CDAO platform capabilities, and Protect the Firm principles.
