Responsibilities

  • Own the engineering capability for a defined product line, ensuring stability, performance, and continuous improvement.

  • Lead a cross-functional squad through the software development lifecycle: design → development → testing → maintenance.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners to shape roadmaps balancing innovation with product health.

  • Drive DevOps practices, automation, and technical excellence across the team.

  • Manage supplier relationships and ensure high-quality delivery.

  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and career development.

  • Ensure effective resource planning, budget management, and governance compliance.

🎯 Skills & Experience

  • Extensive IT engineering expertise across technologies, with hands-on application customisation, integration, and technical solution design.

  • Proven leadership of high-performing engineering teams in complex, fast-paced environments.

  • Strong delivery background in Agile, Scrum, and/or SAFe, with a record of managing medium to large-scale development projects.

  • Strategic and pragmatic mindset: balance long-term vision with short-term delivery.

  • Comfortable operating at or near L6 level.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Confident in constructive challenge and effective collaboration across functions and suppliers.

  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement, with a hands-on approach.

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays + holiday buying scheme

  • Worksave pension scheme with up to 7% employer contribution

  • Free AA breakdown membership from Day 1 + 50% discount for family and friends

  • Discounts on AA products (car and home insurance)
