The role operates within Fraud & Credit Services (FCS), first line of defense control function in IWPB (Intl Wealth & Private Banking), with the core purpose of supporting the end-to-end credit journey and creating sustainable outcomes for the Customers and the Bank. Fraud & Credit Decision Systems under IWPB Fraud & Credit Services (FCS) is responsible for the delivery and support of the Credit, Collection and Fraud risk management platforms, tools and data across HSBC. The team also serves as a Decision Engine CoE (Centre of Excellence) for multiple Account Originations/Management, Collections and Fraud Risk systems including the Credit Bureau Management. We facilitate the deployment of account originations and management strategies through the FIM approved decision eco-system. The team would need to interface heavily between the Information Technology team and the business end users (including Risk & Product functions).

In this role, you will:

  • Take measures to effectively and efficiently implement Fraud & Credit Risk Strategies in Decision Systems production ecosystem, in consultation with changed stakeholders from different functions across HSBC market(s)/ Region.
  • Extend strategic support for testing and validation of all decision system changes. Investigate and resolve any production incidents by conducting appropriate root cause analysis
  • Significantly contribute towards decision systems optimization with use of new age tools / frameworks including the use of open-source technologies, AIML, etc. Devise strategies to support the roll out of Future State decision system across HSBC markets.
  • Observe the defined SLAs and deliver MI to support operational monitoring of Decision Systems service. Responsible for ensuring adherence to the defined governance processes throughout the change lifecycle of decision systems deliveries.
  • Responsible for ensuring the development of cost-effective code for assigned projects. Manages the automation of repetitive programming steps to reduce the need for manual intervention
  • Take charge in the maintenance of generated programs, queries and profiles to make sure certain organizational information resources are leveraged efficiently. As the role holder develops greater expertise and maturity, additional responsibilities will be added:
  • Independently deliver medium to high level complexity strategy changes on decision systems. Enable support and provide design solutions to the complex business requirements. Prioritize best practice adoption
  • Deploy techniques to boost efficiency and process improvement. Mentor and guide new joiners and supports in their day-to-day deliveries. Implement the group improvement initiatives from end-to-end perspective

To be successful you will:

  • Must have working experience in Fraud & Credit Lending Landscape. Exposure to Banking Analytics or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, or related field. Knowledge of decision systems.
  • Experience on Vendor Decisioning or Analytics product(s) is preferred. E.g., Experian Power Curve, SMg3, SAS Intelligent Decisioning, SAS Viya, Provenir, TRIAD etc. Experience on Cloud, Digital Technology and Cognitive/AI platforms will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent coding and testing skills and mentoring skills. Strong background working with large-scale data, data management, data quality, visualization and dashboard design and regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability to change and changing work priorities and ability to drive results.
  • Experience in working in collaborative environment across FLoD and SLoD is strongly desirable. Strong programming knowledge of SAS, SQL, R/Python, GCP, BigQuery, BigData, Github, VS Code are desirable
  • Exposure to coding best practices and optimization techniques. Knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
