Why this role matters

As our Electric Vehicle Business Development & Product Manager, you will help shape and grow BT Group's emerging EV offering. This is a new role focused on developing partnerships and identifying opportunities to commercialise BT Group assets, including street furniture and exchange buildings, for EV charging use cases.

We are looking for someone with EV experience and you will work with a high degree of autonomy, making this an exciting opportunity for someone who is comfortable operating in an evolving environment and keen to influence strategy from an early stage.

This role can be based in London, Birmingham or Bristol and our hybrid working model means you are expected to be in the office 3 days per week.

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • Lead business development activity to identify, engage, and develop partnerships that support BT Group's EV ambitions.
  • Help shape the product direction for early-stage EV propositions, contributing to how the offer evolves over time.
  • Explore opportunities to commercialise BT Group assets, including green boxes / street furniture and exchange sites, for EV charging infrastructure.
  • Build relationships with external partners and stakeholders across relevant parts of the EV ecosystem.
  • Drive EV adoption using BT infrastructure, contributing to net zero goals and enabling greener, more sustainable communities.
  • Stay up to date on market trends, competitive landscape, technology advancements and regulatory changes within the UK public EV charging sector.
  • Provide valuable market feedback to internal teams (product, marketing, engineering) and where relevant work with them to inform future strategy and product development.
  • Customer Engagement - Conduct compelling presentations and product demonstrations to prospective clients, effectively articulating our value proposition.
  • Sales - Negotiate and close sales opportunities to meet sales targets.
  • Build and nurture long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and influencers internally and within target organisations.
  • Conduct market and commercial research across areas such as on-street charging, home charging, and fleet / workplace charging.
  • Support data-led decision-making through the use of tools such as Excel and other standard office systems.
  • Attend relevant meetings, locations, and industry conferences where needed to support partnership development and market engagement.
  • Work independently while collaborating closely with colleagues across the wider team to move opportunities forward.

You'll have the following skills and experience

For this role, it is crucial that you have experience in the EV sector combined with a background in business development and or commercial experience in a B2B environment.

  • Proven business development and/or commercial experience in a business-to-business environment.
  • Knowledge of B2B EV market (e.g., fleet or on-street) and an understanding of the current market landscape.
  • Exposure to product management or product development activity, with the ability to contribute to early-stage proposition shaping.
  • Confidence working in a role with limited structure, where processes and approaches may need to be built as the role develops.
  • Strong commercial awareness, research capability, and the ability to evaluate opportunities pragmatically.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, and remain flexible in a changing environment.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt, especially if your experience is not an exact match but your background is relevant to the needs of the role.
  • Comfortable using Excel and standard office tools for day-to-day analysis, tracking, and data handling.
