Job Summary

Join a team building next‑generation virtual assistant experiences for millions of customers. This team develops and maintains the AI‑driven conversational platform that powers both unassisted (bot) interactions and assisted (agent‑supported) flows. In this role, you will focus on the unassisted customer experience — designing, developing, and improving the logic, flows, and backend services that drive automated conversations. You will contribute to the transition from a legacy bot to new flows built using modern tools, including Google ADK, while maintaining existing systems through completion of the migration.

The Engineer 2 will design, implement, test, and support software components that power the AI Virtual Assistant. The role involves maintaining and enhancing existing systems while building new capabilities in partnership with senior engineers, quality engineering, and cross‑functional teams. This work directly contributes to reducing the need for human agent interactions and improving customer experience.

You will work with moderate guidance as part of an established team, applying engineering best practices, contributing to project execution, and helping deliver the next evolution of the virtual assistant experience within the targeted timeframe.
Core Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, and implement features for conversational AI and virtual assistant flows.
• Build and maintain backend services and integrations supporting automated customer interactions.
• Support the transition from legacy bot architecture to new flows developed with Google ADK.
• Maintain existing applications while simultaneously contributing to new programming and modernization efforts.
• Evaluate software designs, run tests, and review technical documentation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to meet project deadlines and integration milestones.
• Work with Quality Engineering to verify functionality meets technical requirements and specifications.
• Document development activity, including technical requirements and design decisions.
• Apply engineering methodologies, problem‑solving skills, and project planning best practices.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Strong backend engineering skills with Python.
• Experience developing with Google ADK or similar frameworks is a strong plus.
• Conversant with modern frontend frameworks (Vue.js preferred, React or Angular acceptable).
• Experience with Single Page Applications and global state management.
• Competent in building Progressive Web Applications.
• Familiarity with Node.js/NPM.
• Experience with analytics tools or frameworks is a bonus.
• Experience with Java/Spring is a plus but not required.
• 2-3 years professional engineering experience
• Established problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with engineering partners.
