We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Global Sanctions and SWIFT Utility Delivery Lead.

The Opportunity:

As an experienced engineering technology leader you will be responsible for driving forward two strategic global technology platforms which provide services supporting HSBC’s sanction screening obligations and SWIFT services globally while managing a globally distributed team circa 100. Operating within the Cross-border Cross-currency (CBCC) technology sub-value stream within Global Payments Solutions, you will report to the Global Head of CBCC Technology, while working across a broad set of stakeholders in provision of these mission-critical services to all Lines of Business.

In this role, you will:

  • Technology and product roadmap alignment and delivery: Shape and execute plans to further modernise and drive lasting advantage and operational efficiency in our technology assets as we target a payments processing environment which is ‘always on’ and navigating a fast moving industry with new disruptive technology services enabling 24x7 operating windows and blending domestic and cross-jurisdictional regulatory obligations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business stakeholders, regional CIOs, and Payment Operations functions to align technology solutions with all business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Service Performance & Platform Resilience: Will have deep expertise in the design and operation of fault tolerant architecture patterns and deployments of infrastructure to match the ‘always-on’ service operating considerations demanded.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Proven track record as a technology leader with experience in the payments, sanctions & fraud and SWIFT business domains.
  • Engineering passion: Articulate and highly capable in designing infrastructure workloads suiting to the criticality of the operation, supported by strong analytical and problem-solving skills in order to coach and grow the team talent.
  • Requirement for strong understanding of cross border payments products, ISO 20022, SWIFT, database technologies and IBM MQ and as well as modern technologies including Kafka, Kubernetes and CI/CD tool chains.
  • Expertise specifically in SWIFT CSP and related market regulatory controls standards with deep understanding of the risk and controls agenda.
  • Evidenced technology professional and people leader of high functioning and high performing global teams, across multiple countries and cultures.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior business leaders and technology partners.
  • Relevant Cloud practitioner certification.
