We’re looking for a driven, curious and commercially minded Senior Finance Analyst to help shape the future of M&S stores as we go through one of the most exciting transformations in our history. With major investments in our operating model, supply chain, online growth and store estate, you’ll play a pivotal role in turning data into action, partnering with store-facing teams, and influencing decisions that directly improve store performance. If you love solving commercial problems, getting close to the business, and making a real impact on how our stores perform every week - this is the role for you!

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

What you’ll do

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Partner closely with store-facing teams and retail operations, proactively supporting and challenging stakeholders to improve commercial outcomes and drive performance.

  • Deliver deep-dive analysis that answers key commercial questions, influences decision-making, and is presented clearly and confidently to senior stakeholders.

  • Stay close to weekly trade performance, translating complex data into coherent stories, trends and insights for senior leaders.

  • Own store budgeting and forecasting, collaborating across finance and non-finance teams to create robust, insight-led financial plans.

  • Lead high-impact month-end reporting, producing clear, action-oriented analysis and spending time in stores to stay connected to real operational performance.

Who you are

Your skills and experience will include:

  • A fully qualified accountant with strong commercial acumen and an understanding of customers, competitors and industry trends.

  • Naturally curious, excited by uncovering patterns in data and translating them into meaningful business decisions.

  • Comfortable working with large datasets, with strong Excel skills and familiarity with Power Query, SQL or Python being a bonus.

  • A proactive problem solver, able to take initiative, handle ad‑hoc work, and operate without rigid routines.

  • A strong communicator, able to articulate insights clearly and engage a wide range of business partners - ideally with experience in retail or a similar fast-paced environment.
