Role Summary
The IS Branch Systems Team is responsible for the back office system used at Booker branches. The team is looking for a Senior Developer with strong Java skills to assist in the maintenance and future development of those systems. The role is primarily home based but the developer should able to commute to Basingstoke so that they can use test equipment as the need arises.
The developer must have experience of Java and familiar with COBOL or have willingness to learn, and scripting, in a Linux environment. Training will be given where necessary.

Experience relevant for this job:
• Minimum of 6 years commercial experience of Java and/or COBOL programming, with a desire to learn the other.
• Linux scripting.
• Source code management tools, e.g. GIT.
• Knowledge of Maven and Jenkins would be beneficial.
• Knowledge of retail or wholesale industry business processes would be beneficial.
