Position Summary
Lead execution of athena’s de‑identified EHR data platform, creating a defensible, compliant, and scalable foundation to support real‑world evidence and research products. As Product Manager you will translate corporate strategy into a product roadmap, drive delivery across ingestion, normalization, de‑identification, modeling, and distribution, and ensure the offering is commercially viable, audit‑ready, and privacy‑preserving. This is a high‑visibility role partnering with Strategy, Engineering, Data Modeling, Analytics, Legal, Privacy, and Commercial teams.

About the Team
You’ll join a cross‑functional team building a regulated data platform that enables research and real‑world evidence initiatives. The team focuses on platform scalability, data quality, compliant data governance, and embedding intelligence and automation into core capabilities to accelerate product velocity and customer value.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Own the end‑to‑end product lifecycle for the de‑identified data platform: ingestion → normalization → de‑identification → modeling → delivery.
  • Define and maintain a roadmap aligned to corporate strategy and commercialization goals; translate strategy into prioritized, measurable execution plans.
  • Partner with Engineering and Data teams to scope and deliver scalable platform capabilities, APIs, and operational SLAs.
  • Collaborate with Data Modelers to design normalized, extensible data structures that support real‑world evidence use cases.
  • Establish data quality standards, validation frameworks, certification checkpoints, and monitoring for ongoing data integrity.
  • Operationalize data rights, compliance, and privacy workflows with Legal and Privacy teams to ensure defensibility and audit readiness.
  • Apply AI tools to accelerate data mapping, quality validation, metadata generation, and internal workflows; pilot model‑assisted approaches while ensuring human review, provenance, and traceability.
  • Identify opportunities to embed AI‑driven automation into platform capabilities (e.g., de‑identification validation, linkage matching, anomaly detection) and measure impact.
  • Drive cross‑functional alignment among Strategy, Data, Analytics, Engineering, Legal, and Commercial stakeholders and own stakeholder communications.
  • Define onboarding processes, documentation, and SLAs for external partners and customers; support go‑to‑market readiness and commercialization.

Expected Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of product management experience, including ownership of data platforms, APIs, or structured data products.
  • Experience with healthcare data (EHR, claims, or other regulated datasets) and familiarity with data privacy considerations.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles and the ability to partner with data engineers/modelers on schema and transform design.
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools to accelerate product development, data mapping, validation, or documentation workflows.
  • Experience collaborating with Legal, Privacy, or Compliance stakeholders to operationalize governance and data rights.
  • Strong written communication, structured thinking, and ability to produce clear product documentation and stakeholder materials.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with HIPAA privacy rules and de‑identification frameworks (safe harbor, expert determination).
  • Experience launching 0→1 data products or building commercially viable data offerings.
  • Background in real‑world evidence, research data needs, or healthcare analytics.

Why Join Us

  • Build a platform that enables impactful healthcare research and real‑world evidence.
  • Work at the intersection of AI, compliance, and scalable data architecture.
  • Join a culture that values ownership, clarity, and innovation while partnering with leaders shaping healthcare data interoperability and intelligence.

Expected Compensation

$121,000 - $207,000
