Introduction

 

Are you an Application Architect interested in joining a team responsible for maintaining, upgrading and transforming a critical piece of UK National Security Infrastructure?

What will you be doing?

 

You will be working as part of the engineering team supporting the Home Office Biometrics (HOB) Programme’s Strategic Central and Bureau Platforms. Working to assist with the implementation of change to HOB’s biometrics systems.

 

The preferred candidate will have a proven track record of delivering Architectural Solutions in the Application Domain to UK Government Customers. You will be working alongside our customer, Solution Architects & SMEs to deliver technical solutions to our customer.

 

The preferred candidate will be responsible for:

 

  • Defining technical solutions in response to customer requirements

  • The production of high level designs

  • Engaging with Chief Engineers to ensure that solutions are deliverable

  • Representing the company on customer governance boards and be the point of contact for customer technical issues

 

Who do we need?

 

Application Architects should be highly innovative and versatile, we are looking for a dynamic technical leader with the following required skills:

 

  • Ability to independently develop technical solutions to customer problems

  • Provide overarching architectural guidance

  • Ability to work under pressure in large multi-disciplinary teams to tight schedules

  • Ability to provide technical leadership to engineering teams within the larger project

  • Ability to engage with stakeholders from multiple areas of the business including product design, service design, operations and the customer

  • Using excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills to explain complex topics concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Good all-round technical knowledge of Linux and Windows environments for Application hosting

  • Broad knowledge of System Security and Defence in depth practices to enable close working with the Security team

  • Knowledge of AWS or other public cloud technology

 

The following skills are desirable:

 

  • Previous experience of creating solutions within a Mission critical or Business critical environment

  • Experience in implementation and deployment of applications for Biometric platforms and Biometric matching engines

  • Proven track record of developing and delivering Biometric and Identity Management solutions

  • Cloud migration experience

  • Knowledge of Agile delivery methods

 

Due to the nature of the work, the individual must be a UK National and have the abiiity to obtain a security clearance.
