The Opportunity
Leonardo is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to work on the Future Combat Air System (Part of the tempest programme) project focussing on the defining of an Integrated Communication System (ICS).
Leonardo is a global high-tech company and one of the key players in Aerospace, Defence and Security. Headquartered in Italy, Leonardo has over 45,000 employees, of which 7,000 are based in the UK.
The role will be looking to work as part of an energetic and dynamic team on scoping the model for the ICS and across a series of sprints, maturing each element of the design. As Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to take part in laying the foundations of future airborne defence communications.
This project is at an early stage in its lifecycle, so requires someone who is comfortable to start defining a system from the very first principles and understands the full engineering life cycle. A Model Based Systems Engineering Approach is being used and Cameo is the tool that is being used to capture this, interfacing to Doors where the requirements are being stored.
The project uses an Agile methodology with each Sprint focusing on a specific ICS capability.
This role will provide unique exposure to a variety of communications products and subject-matter experts, as well as the ability to interact directly with the user community to understand their operational needs and directly apply this knowledge to product capability enhancements.
