MySQL Database Architect / Developer

MySQL Database Architect
Our team has built a leading tech-enabled talent marketplace, and we are looking to unlock
insights from our user data. We need an experienced MySQL Database Architect to join our
team for 20+ hours a week. The ideal candidate is an expert with MySQL and Python and has a
proven track record of managing and optimizing database systems.
Skills we need:
1. Data Cleaning & Transformation: Develop and implement processes for cleaning and
transforming raw data into a structured format suitable for analysis. This includes
identifying and resolving data quality issues, ensuring data consistency, and creating
efficient ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines.
2. Database Design & Optimization: Design, develop, and optimize MySQL databases to
meet the evolving needs of the organization. This includes creating data models,
defining relationships between data entities, and implementing indexing strategies to
improve query performance.
3. Data Analytics: Collaborate with business development team to understand their data
requirements and application of data to further business goals.
4. Problem Solver: Must be creative and proactive, continuously seek ways to improve data
processes and workflows and identifying potential data-related issues before they
become significant problems.
The ideal candidate will have:
 At least 20 hours per week to commit
 Extensive experience in MySQL database architecture and management
 Proficiency in Python
 Understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with ETL tools
 Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights
 Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
 A proactive and detail-oriented mindset, with a passion for problem-solving
Nice to have:
 Live in the West Coast (preferably California or Denver)
 Can work with the end goal in mind with little to no support
 Business-minded / understands how our data needs help us achieve more users
