Job title: Middleware Engineer

 

The Middleware Engineer, is a role working under moderate supervision, is responsible for the delivery, optimization, and scalability of middleware assets, services, and APIs. The role collaborates with various IT Teams to ensure successful and secure communication between various IT systems, application components, and vendors. The role requires an understanding of middleware infrastructures as well as supports XML and web services. The role optimizes the performance of integration environments by planning, testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting various systems integrations.

 

  • 2-5 years of experience in Middleware Technologies or a related field.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and/or commensurate work experience.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

 

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in IBM MQ, IBM App Connect, IBM DataPower and related tools

  • Proficiency in management of SSL/TLS certificates

  • Understanding of Linux navigation and scripting

  • Troubleshooting

 

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Middleware platforms such as MuleSoft or Kafka

  • Familiarity with log management technologies such as Graylog

  • ReST and SOAP API’s utilizing OAuth 2.0 and SAML 2.0 security

  • Understanding of build and deployment process ideally with tools such IBM UCD and Azure DevOps

  • Insurance industry knowledge

 

Job description:

  • IBM Message Queue Admin Analyze and understand customer requirements, organization, functions Should have sound knowledge in MQ 8.0, 9.0

  • Should have experience in MQ Upgrades

  • Administration, Maintenance, Deployment, and Integration including installation and configuration of IBM MQ version 8.x & higher

  • Security hardening of IBM MQ to include TLS encryption and Authority/Authentication Records

  • Expert in defining and modifying MQ configurations such as queues, listener ports, channels, pub/sub, etc.

  • Supports MQ queue managers running in a hub & spoke environment (MQ Clients)

  • Performs tuning, issue research and resolution, and end user support

  • Works with application Development Teams

  • Monitors execution and performance of messaging applications.

  • Good experience in MQ Clustering.

  • Experience with in product Fixpack installations and version upgrades of WebSphere MQ

  • Knowledge on administration tasks using MQSC Commands

  • Knowledge on MQ Backup Recovery process

 

Roles & responsibilities

  • 5+ years of IBM MQ Administration at the system level

  • Experience with MQ installs (z\OS and distributed) and support (version 7+)

  • Experience working with mainframe, UNIX/Linux systems, or Window Servers

  • Ability to network and partner with business applications and technical teams

  • Ability and willingness to work on an on-call rotating schedule

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coding experience with IIS, C#, .Net and Unix Shell scripting

  • Experience using automation with Ansible automation (for middleware platforms)

  • Experience using JCL (Job Control Language) to run batch jobs

  • Knowledge of IBM Db2 Family

  • Some Java experience or knowledge

  • Powershell scripting experience
