Job title:  Software Team leader

Location: New Malden. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £ 70,000 (depending on skills and experience) 

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • To lead a team of software engineers in the design, implementation, testing and acceptance of Submarine Command System (SMCS) software releases. The SMCS Software Team Leader has the authority to organise, delegate and manage the workflow and responsibilities of all members within a SMCS Software Engineering Team, liaising with stakeholders at all levels, to ensure software is delivered on schedule, to cost and to quality
  • The SMCS Software Team Leader will work in conjunction with the SMCS Software Development Manager, to assign engineering resources as required to meet SMCS Programme priority needs
  • They will also have the opportunity to engage with the SMCS customers and end users, as required, to enable development of the SMCS Programme(s) and the continued evolution of the SMCS product as required

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Team lead/line management experience, working within allocated budgets and timescales, work package allocation and progress tracking
  • Software Development experience; developing in large, complex, systems
  • Excellent communication skills and experience with interfacing with customer

Desirable:

  • Using high level Software languages such as Ada, C++ and/or C#
  • A solid understanding of the software lifecycle (e.g. waterfall, Agile, Spiral) and associated methodologies (e.g. UML)
