This is a key leadership role, working with the Head of Engineering Projects and Chief Engineer to identify, develop and deliver the technical solution and prioritise ways of working that maintain the focus on delivered product design, compliance, safety and integrity.   As well as working closely with Leonardo’s internal engineering team and project management team, this role may also play a part in the international consortium as a senior engineering manager within the international project team.
This is an exciting time within the GCAP programme, this PEM will play a critical role in bringing the GCAP engineering team and the international team together and embarking on the development of our most advanced RF sensor to date.  The successful candidate will work with their peers across the GCAP Sector, other Leonardo LoBs as well as across partner organisations to drive commonality and efficiencies in the execution of engineering work.
As this role has a high profile with our customers and partners, it may require travel within the UK and abroad.

•    Establishing and maintaining good lines of communication across the engineering team, with the engineering leadership team, Project Manager, and Heads of Discipline
•    Nurturing a strong link with the engineering functions that serve the GCAP sector to ensure recruitment, training and development, tools, process and capability are aligned to the future needs of GCAP.
•    Working closely with the Systems Design Authority ensuring they are fully informed on technical progress, technical risk and any mitigation strategies
•    Regularly reporting into engineering and project forums.  Representing the MRFS Engineering Team in GCAP Performance reviews when required, with ownership of engineering issues and enablers
•    Implementing, monitoring and responding to Sector level technical performance metrics to ensure the engineering team is supported in maintaining a high-performance output and delivering fit for purpose solutions
•    Alongside the DA and SDA, ensuring the design solution meets the end user requirements, is reliable, fully documented and works within the designated environment
•    Coordinating engineering input to bid activities
