Job Description

We're looking for a talented Software Engineer to join Wise's Treasury Money Movement team and take on a truly global challenge. In this high-impact role, you will contribute to the full-stack design, build, and maintenance of mission-critical systems. These instruments enable our Treasury Operations team to securely move £35+ billion monthly, directly contributing to our goal of making cross-border payments faster and cheaper for everyone while maintaining rigorous risk and reconciliation controls.

This role is for a strong Front End Engineer with some experience as Full Stack as well,  who enjoys tackling challenges and influencing product design. You will develop robust User Interfaces, contribute to our internal user experience and work on back-end services to create intuitive web applications that streamline the work of our internal teams. If you are passionate about designing operational flows, solving open-ended problems, and building the data infrastructure that enables data-driven decisions, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain clean, functional, and data-driven user interfaces (UIs) for our internal treasury platforms, enabling users to visualize data, manage workflows, and execute operations.
• Design, develop, and deploy scalable back-end services for cash management, payment processing, risk analysis, and financial reporting.
• Collaborate directly with treasury operations to understand their needs and translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.
• Integrate our systems with external banking partners, market data providers, and internal ERP systems via APIs.
• Manage and optimize financial databases (SQL) to ensure the highest standards of data integrity, accuracy, and performance.
• Uphold and improve our system security, reliability, and monitoring, which are critical for financial applications.
• Participate in the on-call rotation for our critical services and help the team improve it, normally being on-call every 6-10 weeks.

Qualifications

We are fully aware that it is uncommon for a candidate to have all skills required and we fully support everyone in learning new skills with us. So if you have some of those listed below and are eager to learn more we do want to hear from you!

• Strong proficiency with frontend systems like React.
• Proficiency in backend programming languages like Java, Typescript Or Go. 
• Good knowledge of database systems, mainly on relational (SQL) databases but NoSQL is a welcoming advantage.
• Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, as well as asynchronous systems.
• A strong product mindset and passion for flawless user experience. Building user interfaces with frameworks like React or AngularJS
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to break down complex problems into shippable milestones that deliver value fast.
• Curiosity and drive for continuous learning and improvement
• Knowledge of Java, Spring boot, React and experience with a messaging system, like Kafka is a plus.
