Primary Function

  • Work as part of Laser Group on the development of laser processing and parameter development in support of LECO products and systems.
  • Work with lasers, optics, motion systems, welding torches, and/or power supplies to conduct process and parameter development.
  • Work with Lincoln Electric Sales Team to develop and deliver laser solutions.

Job Duties

  • Perform, instruct and supervise testing of internal R&D efforts.
  • Interact with suppliers, customers, distributors, and sales engineers on a regular basis.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
  • Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters. 
  • Demonstrate laser processes for internal and external visitors to Laser Laboratory (EP-5).
  • Travel to assist with installations/runoff at customer facilities.
  • Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity. 

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED; Associates or Bachelor's in Engineering, Project Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred
  • 3-5 years laser welding experience.
  • Experience with laser processing and/or robotics is desirable
  • Robotic programming experience is desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret weld symbols
  • Skill in the use of computers, specifically a PC, Windows-based operating environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work in a lab environment and perform welds without assistance
  • Ability to handle a constantly changing set of priorities.
  • Willingness to travel 20% of the time.
  • Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments.

Repetition with activity.

Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
