We’re looking for a Delivery Manager to join the Delivery pillar aligned to Data Democratization to be a part of the new exciting Change operating model and help us shape how we make data accessible and usable for everyone within VMO2, not just data scientists or IT specialists. It will involves breaking down barriers to data access, analysis, and understanding, so that all our teams can leverage data to make informed decisions. This includes being part of the delivery team that is responsible for building this capability in partnership with your colleagues in Product and Technology and fostering and nurturing a test and learn mindset across VirginMediaO2. You will be accountable for the coordination and alignment of Digital initiatives which deliver across the Change operating model and beyond. You will need to be hands-on and goal-oriented with proven experience across agile delivery practice. You will report into Head of Delivery in Data Democratization . Success in this role means that you must be able to think strategically and effectively develop key processes that facilitate planning and execution. This position requires cross-functional coordination at all levels and the ability to manage in a fast paced and ambiguous environment.
Key Accountability
You will be accountable for supporting multiple software engineering teams in planning and delivering the vision, strategy & objectives both within Data Democratization and across the Digital organization.
Key responsibilities
Responsible for:
Establishing and proactively refining data delivery best practices and ways of working into teams beyond the discipline to develop maturity around planning and execution of work.
Ensuring delivery is transparent, predictable and sustainable, whilst providing value to our customers.
Driving a continuous improvement mindset and developing self-sufficient agile teams
Coaching teams to be predictable, sustainable, value driven and flexible.
Embedding and refining a clear way of working across multiple teams.
Able to drive the Digital In Life vision and agenda, address tactical delivery issues as they occur and maintain commitments but maintain focus on the strategic direction.
Take accountability for managing and mitigating risks, dependencies and issues
Ensure the strategic goals for Digital Data Democratization are understood.
Playing an active role in the Change digital delivery community, and sharing best practice
Select the appropriate tools for the job to manage progress against OKRs and core deliveries
Role specific
As a Delivery Manager in Data Democratization you will be a part of a team of delivery managers providing an agile delivery capability. You will be supporting a variety of engineering teams by providing in-situ delivery support and leadership.
Your Profile & Experience
A successful candidate will:
Be confident at presenting concepts and ideas to a wide range of contributors
Have strong commercial acumen and ability to structure delivery within a
framework that clearly augments the financial and operational goals of the team
Have experience of working in a Data Democratization environment and have the knowledge and experience to understand the culture, skills and change process necessary to break down barriers to ensure data becomes embedded into our ways of working
It will be an advantage if the candidate has technical skills in big data, GCP (or AWS, Azure, Hadoop) and an awareness of data ingestion tooling and near real time ingestions.
Experience of working across the full Software Development Life Cycle in a dynamic fast paced environment.
Demonstrable experience applying Agile principles into real world practices that work for the teams they support.
Experience working alongside senior stakeholders
Communicate clearly between internal and external teams and manage any potential issues accordingly.
Solid troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate well whilst doing so
Experience in coaching teams in agile ways of working and mentoring others whilst leading teams via influence and persuasion
Proven experience in working for a fast-paced product-led tech business
Delivered technical/digital projects, working within constraints, meeting outcomes and driving business value.
Proven ability to manage third-party supplier relationships
