As the Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Bank Deposits Technology team, you will lead multiple technical areas and oversee the activities of several departments. You will collaborate across various technical domains, applying your expertise cross-functionally to promote the adoption and implementation of technical methods within different teams. Your role is crucial in helping the firm stay at the forefront of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements.

 

Job Responsibilities

Primarily responsible for managing agile software delivery teams and partnering with Product partners to drive technology delivery
Delivers solutions leveraging modern technologies including cloud-backed APIs and microservices utilizing distributed database technologies
Possesses a strong talent assessment and talent management background
Manage all aspects of technology delivery
Builds a diverse and inclusive team and culture within the organization
Provides leadership and high-level direction to teams while frequently overseeing employee populations across multiple areas
Acts as the primary interface with senior leaders, stakeholders, and executives, driving consensus across competing objectives
Manages multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and large cross-product collaborations
Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition,  5+ year  of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise and more broadly across the organization.
Experience developing or leading large or cross-functional teams of technologists
Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals
Experience with developing and managing large scale platforms with strong understanding of complex distributed systems running on hybrid infrastructure (on premises, private and private cloud environments)
Deep expertise building and operating large scale high performance transactional environments with distributed systems and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
Deep expertise with enterprise design patterns and industry best practices with experience using modern technology (e.g., Java, Cassandra, Kafka) and design patterns (e.g., micro services, APIs)
Experience with building, leading and mentoring technology teams and next level leaders within the organization. 
Ability to work in a dynamic, agile environment leading/working with geographically distributed teams
Experience with implementing industry standard cybersecurity & technology controls
 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Experience with core banking systems, in particular deposit systems
Preferred experience with specific cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) beyond the required expertise
Familiarity with additional programming languages or technologies that complement the required skills (e.g., Python, Go)
Experience in specific industry sectors or with particular types of projects that align with the organization's goals
Advanced certifications or degrees in relevant fields that could enhance the candidate's ability to perform the role
Experience with specific methodologies or frameworks (e.g., Agile, DevOps) that are desirable for the role
Excellent communication skills and ability to present to and communicate effectively with key stakeholders across product, technology, data and design
