Software Engineer III - AWS Cloud Engineer + Java

As a Software Engineer III - AWS Cloud Engineer + Java at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, you'll serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end cutting-edge solutions in the form of cloud-native microservice architecture applications leveraging the latest technologies and the best industry practices.
• Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
• Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
• Support the products you've built through their entire life cycle, including production and incident management
• Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
• Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
• Hands on Java Development experience and excellent architecture knowledge. 
• Capable of design solutions meeting scalability, reliability and security requirements.
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Working hands on experience in AWS cloud platform.
• Understanding of relational databases and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Ability to work in a dynamic, agile environment within a diverse, inclusive and geographically distributed team

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
• Exposure to cloud technologies and AWS/CKAD Certified
• Experience in Python is preferred
• Understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture
• Good writing skills, capable of producing supporting documentation and Good understanding of Microsoft Office suite – particularly MS Excel
• Understanding of messaging frameworks (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)
