Job Description: Senior Manager, U.S. Debit Pricing
The Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) organization is responsible for managing relationships with millions of Merchants and Partners around the world that facilitate American Express acceptance and enabling the day-to-day operations of our company’s payment network.
The role of the Global Merchant & Network Pricing (GMNP) team is to design and implement global pricing strategies that support our coverage objectives and optimize our Discount Revenue. This revenue stream is the single largest source of American Express’ revenue and Merchant Pricing strategies play a key role in driving financial performance.   
This newly created role of Senior Manager, U.S. Debit Pricing, is an exciting opportunity to contribute and support our Merchant pricing.  

Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager, U.S. Debit Pricing will:
•    Conduct in-depth research on the external landscape and distill key insights to inform the Pricing organization and broader GMNS Debit strategy.
•    Develop and maintain pricing constructs for AXP’s proprietary Debit card products, leveraging data-driven insights to support principled and optimized Merchant pricing strategies.
•    Support Merchant renegotiations by developing data-backed proposals, driving alignment with internal stakeholders, and ensuring outcomes that are in-sync with AXP’s value proposition.
•    Work with internal stakeholders, both within Pricing and throughout the GMNS organization, to find Merchant pricing solutions that support enterprise goals.
•    Manage project workflows with limited oversight from leadership, overseeing timelines, deliverables, and next steps.

How will you make an impact in this role? 
The role will focus on meeting the following key objectives: 
•    Develop and maintain Debit pricing constructs and strategies that support enterprise goals.
•    Formulate strategic recommendations based on key findings, communicating takeaways to senior leadership through written and verbal updates.

Minimum Qualifications:
•    5+ years’ experience in pricing, or a pricing adjacent, function
•    Strong aptitude for analytics; demonstrated ability to develop sophisticated financial models and draw value-added insights from data.
•    Strong relationship management and collaboration skills – ability to manage internal stakeholders.
•    Excellent communication skills – both written and oral -- with experience leading discussions with Senior Leaders.
•    Results driven, with the ability to work under pressure, navigate through ambiguity, draw linkages, and balance multiple priorities.
•    Experience in and/or significant exposure to the payments industry is preferred but not required.

 

Salary Range: $103,750.00 to $174,750.00 annually + bonus + benefits
