As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and community banking technology team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job Responsibilities
- Own detailed design for CCB applications, working with Architecture, Product, and other technical leads to achieve alignment.
- Represent the engineering team in architectural discussions and governance reviews, driving key decisions.
- Estimate effort, propose solution options, and recommend best approaches for delivery.
- Ensure high-quality, timely delivery; act as the glue between Product Managers, Architecture, Scrum teams, and dependency teams.
- Lead or empower integration discussions; negotiate with upstream and downstream contacts as needed. Manage dependencies and build strong relationships with partners across teams.
- Strive to be a subject matter expert for the domain and understand end-to-end customer experience.
- Foster and drive innovation, including quick prototyping and process automation.
- Communicate technical dependencies and collaborate closely with other Product areas.
- Present to senior leadership and contribute to roadmap discussions.
- Enhance developer experiences and contribute to stretch projects. Mentor junior engineers and support execution plans as needed.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- A track record of high-quality delivery and technical ownership.
- Strong design and architecture skills, with the ability to align stakeholders and drive decisions.
- Experience estimating effort, proposing solutions, and managing dependencies.
- Ability to foster innovation and drive efficiency through automation and process improvements.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including presenting to senior leadership.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting team execution.
- Deep understanding of customer experience and technical implementations in financial services.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Experience with quick prototyping and process automation.
- Ability to create and utilize presentation opportunities with cross-functional teams.
- Strong autonomy and ownership mindset, driving alignment and surfacing blockers early.
- Experience negotiating and aligning with counterparts in other teams.
