At CGI, we’re helping to shape the future of digital healthcare across the UK, and we’re looking for Senior Platform Engineers to join our Platform Services team. You’ll play a key role in building and evolving a cloud-native platform that underpins vital national programmes, enabling teams to innovate faster and deliver high-impact digital solutions. Working within a collaborative, forward-thinking environment, you’ll have the autonomy to design, deliver, and scale platform capabilities that power transformative outcomes for millions, all while being supported to grow your expertise and influence the future of digital services.

CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and has been named a UK ‘Best Employer’ by the Financial Times. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching) which makes you a CGI Partner not just an employee. We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent and inspiring everyone to pursue careers in our sector, including our Armed Forces, and are proud to hold a Gold Award in recognition of our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. Join us and you’ll be part of an open, friendly community of experts. We’ll train and support you in taking your career wherever you want it to go.

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. You can be based anywhere in the UK, but the flexibility to travel to Scotland will be required approximately every 6–8 weeks.

Your future duties and responsibilities

In this role, you will be part of a cross-functional platform engineering team delivering the core infrastructure and services that underpin the platform for our public sector client. You’ll design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available solutions on AWS, enabling multiple programmes to build and innovate with confidence. You’ll collaborate closely with developers, architects, and delivery teams to streamline CI/CD processes, enhance observability, and drive continuous improvement across the platform.

You’ll take ownership of key technical decisions, contribute to best practice design patterns, and help evolve a modern, cloud-native ecosystem that empowers innovation across the digital health landscape. Supported by a culture that values collaboration and creativity, you’ll be encouraged to explore new technologies and continuously improve both the platform and your own technical mastery.

Key responsibilities:

• Design & Deliver: Architect, build, and optimise AWS-based cloud-native platforms supporting large-scale digital health systems.
• Develop & Automate: Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ensuring consistent, secure, and efficient delivery.
• Collaborate & Innovate: Work within agile, cross-functional teams to drive platform evolution and shared delivery goals.
• Monitor & Improve: Implement observability and monitoring using tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Optimise & Scale: Enhance system performance, scalability, and resilience through automation and continuous improvement.
• Document & Share: Produce high-quality technical documentation and contribute to team knowledge sharing.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

You should bring significant hands-on experience designing, delivering, and operating large-scale cloud-native platforms on AWS, with a strong understanding of containers, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps practices. You’ll be a collaborative engineer who thrives in agile, self-organising teams and is passionate about continuous improvement and innovation.

Essential qualifications:

• Expert knowledge of AWS cloud-native services and architectures.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes and containerisation.
• Proven ability to implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of performance, scalability, and security in distributed systems.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in cross-functional environments.
• Experience with Git/GitHub for source control and collaboration.

Desirable:

• Experience improving software development and integration processes.
• Familiarity with digital health or public sector platforms.
• Strong technical documentation and knowledge-sharing skills.
