This role, Senior Director, Capabilities Lead – Research Technologies, is a strategic leadership position tasked with enhancing the capabilities and competencies of the RTech workforce to ensure sustained excellence and innovation. Through fostering a learning culture, developing robust training programs, and aligning skill sets to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving drug discovery landscape, this role will help build a competitive advantage for GSK.
Key Responsibilities:
Capability Development and Training:

Lead training efforts and provide external benchmarking to grow capabilities across RTech.

Develop curricula focused on areas such as technology use, people development, skill enhancement, pipeline progression, and industry trends.

Leverage existing GSK leadership programs to drive employee development.
External Landscape Analysis:

Continuously scan the external landscape for emerging trends, capabilities, and best practices.

Identify technical training programs and collaborate with external and internal faculty to deliver these programs.

Develop and maintain an external professional network and establish a competitive technical accreditation system.
Design and Implementation of Training Materials:

Create and execute training materials and tools that align with external and local best practices.

Partner with HR, R&D Ethics and Compliance, and global learning functions to integrate learning principles and enterprise-wide frameworks (e.g., leadership and coaching).
Capability Framework Management:

Maintain and update the Capability Framework to ensure it reflects required competencies, proficiencies, and performance expectations for individual development.
Continuous Improvement:

Evaluate programs and interventions to drive continuous improvement.

Develop metrics to measure the effectiveness of training and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
Enhancing Ways of Working:

Develop frameworks to clarify job responsibilities across RTech skill groups.

Establish strategies to adapt to a rapidly evolving drug discovery environment driven by AI, machine learning (AIML), and data innovation.
Basic Qualifications:

Advanced degree (PhD, MSc or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or technical field.

12+ years in pharmaceutical R&D, with a focus on capability development, training, and organizational change.
Preferred Qualifications:

Proven ability to lead large-scale initiatives and collaborate across diverse teams and functions.

Experience or ability to build complex training and skills-based programs.

Familiarity with AIML, data-driven drug discovery, and emerging technologies in the pharmaceutical industry.
