Senior Product Owner - Financials / Financial Management Software (FMS)

Location: Birmingham, UK

Hybrid Working - 2 days per month in the office (minimum)
Full-time | Permanent

At OneAdvanced, we help organisations across the UK run more efficiently through intelligent, integrated software solutions. As part of our ongoing investment in innovation, we’re growing our Financial Management Suite (FMS) — and we’re looking for a Senior Product Owner to help shape the next generation of OneAdvanced Financials.

This is a key role for an experienced Product Owner who understands the power of technology in transforming finance operations and who’s motivated by the opportunity to build products that make a genuine impact.

You’ll have a key design influence of the strategic product roadmap for our Financial Management solutions, translating it into a clear, actionable backlog. Working closely with Product Management, Business Analysts, and our Agile development teams, you’ll define, prioritise, and deliver enhancements that align to both customer needs and business objectives.

As the voice of the customer, you’ll ensure that every feature we design and release delivers measurable value. You’ll balance the demands of customers with the realities of engineering, ensuring our roadmap remains both ambitious and achievable.

You’ll also play a leading role in driving innovation, exploring how emerging technologies... including agentic AI, can enhance automation, insight, and intelligence within our financial products.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will:

  • Take forward the strategic product roadmap for OneAdvanced Financials and associated modules.

  • Own and maintain the product backlog, creating and refining user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Partner with Business Analysts and Agile teams to deliver timely, high-quality product releases.

  • Act as the product expert, providing guidance to internal teams and insight to external customers.

  • Evaluate customer feedback and requests to identify enhancements with broad market relevance.

  • Drive the incorporation of AI and advanced technologies into our product strategy.

  • Attend customer meetings, workshops, and industry events to stay connected to market needs.

  • Communicate product vision, progress, and priorities to cross-functional teams.

  • Produce supporting documentation such as release notes, specifications, and product collateral.

  • Manage competing priorities, ensuring delivery against agreed milestones and release schedules.

What You Will Have

We’re looking for someone who brings both technical understanding and commercial awareness — someone who can confidently connect the needs of finance professionals with the realities of software development.

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner in a software or SaaS environment.

  • Knowledge of financial management systems, accounting principles, or related disciplines.

  • A strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, ideally with experience using JIRA.

  • The ability to translate business and customer requirements into clear, prioritised development work.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills... you can tell a compelling story and influence others at all levels.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

  • A proactive mindset... able to make informed decisions, even under pressure.

  • Curiosity and creativity when it comes to leveraging new technologies like AI to solve business challenges.

  • Communicate your own ideas effectively & assimilate those of colleagues and customers through effective storytelling
  • Be effective in communicating and translating organisation and product vision to engineering teams
  • Work collaboratively with developers to achieve team delivery objectives
  • Build proactive and strong internal and external relationships to secure high levels of stakeholder engagement
  • Manage and prioritise workload including the ability to work to targets and tight timescales
  • Deliver high-quality documentation
  • Support and contribute to departmental objectives
  • Make decisions under pressure
