We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Technology Risk and Control team in the role of Senior Manager – Cloud Technology Controls

In this fantastic role, you’ll take the lead for Cloud Technology controls at HSBC, where resilience and trust matter every day. You’ll work side-by-side with senior technology leaders to embed effective risk and control management across critical services—shaping a strong control environment through risk assessments, issues management and audit outcomes.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll use data and insight to drive smarter decisions, challenge inefficient controls, and deliver practical, commercially viable improvements. You’ll also help shape future-fit risk management and regulatory frameworks, staying ahead of emerging trends across operational resilience, cybersecurity and IT risk—while building strong partnerships across all lines of defence and with external stakeholders.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as a trusted adviser to senior management on operational risk (risk assessments, control environment, issues management, audits)
  • Promote accountable risk and control decision-making using quality data and analysis, challenge poor, inefficient, or excessive controls and behaviours
  • Provide specialist risk and control insight; lead continuous improvement of the control environment and risk monitoring (including behaviours)
  • Advise on and design processes and controls that are commercially viable, practical, and effective
  • Identify trends to anticipate future developments in the risk and control environment
  • Influence and shape the development and implementation of future-fit risk management and regulatory frameworks (including keeping senior management updated on relevant policy/project changes impacting operational risk)

To be successful in this role you should have the following skills:

  • Cloud technology controls knowledge (technology/data, SDLC, deployment controls), either directly or via 1/2/3 LoD control management
  • Data/IT/Operations risk management expertise
  • Operational resilience, cybersecurity, and IT risk frameworks knowledge
  • Non-Financial Risk (NFR) framework understanding and experience
  • Senior stakeholder management (trusted adviser, influencing, partnering)
  • Risk and control reviews capability (assessment, monitoring, and continuous improvement)
