We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist
In this role, you will:
- Own service reliability outcomes for critical digital services (availability, latency, error rates), improving Incident/Problem Management and reducing MTTR.
- Lead P1/P2 major incidents end-to-end: triage, coordination across teams, stakeholder communications, and driving post-incident actions to closure.
- Define, maintain, and improve runbooks, SOPs, on-call readiness, and shift-left activities to reduce operational load.
- Improve release reliability and reduce change failure rate through automation, standardisation, and safer deployment practices.
- Drive observability strategy: standard dashboards, alert tuning, log/trace correlation, and proactive detection.
- Deliver automation that measurably reduces toil (auto-remediation, self-service ops tools, automated diagnostics).
- Improve operational reporting (MTTR, incident trends, recurring issues) and use insights to prioritise fixes.
- Ensure operational processes align with internal security, risk, and control requirements (change, access, incident evidence) and support audits.
- Act as a go-to SME for Production Support/SRE practices, mentoring others and applying AIOps (clustering, summarisation, pattern detection, guided diagnostics, runbook knowledge retrieval, RCA drafting).
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Advanced Python capability for automation engineering (packaging, testing, structured logging, resilient API integrations), not just one-off scripts.
- Proven cloud operations experience (AWS preferred) including IAM, networking fundamentals, and operating compute/container services in production.
- Strong observability engineering skills across tools such as Splunk/AppDynamics/CloudWatch/DataDog, with solid metrics/logs/traces concepts and alert design/tuning.
- Working knowledge of containers and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes) where relevant to the platform.
- Hands-on DevOps/DevSecOps experience with CI/CD and tooling (e.g., Jenkins, Groovy, shell scripting, GitHub) plus Jira/Confluence and Agile ways of working (Scrum/Kanban).
- Demonstrated reliability and process maturity: defining/using SLOs/SLIs, managing error budgets, leading incidents, and driving RCAs to closure using metrics like MTTR and change failure rate.
- Practical experience using AI assistants to accelerate ops/engineering tasks (triage, summarisation, runbook/RCA drafting, code generation) with appropriate validation and governance.
- Strong coaching and mentoring track record, raising team capability and improving operational standards.
