We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Director to join our Execution Services Engineering Group to support our Global Fixed Income Trading team. This role is located in New York, New York.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Build and design Fixed Income Trading Channels and Messaging Channels interfacing with other venues and exchanges using industry standard protocols
  • Operate mission-critical systems and deliver day-to-day enhancements across front office and operations
  • Provide technical oversight around major Fixed Income E-Commerce projects
  • Design and guide the development team to implement resilient and performant systems and provide guidance around system testing procedures
  • Collaborate and work with other teams in a platform operating model
  • Analyze and support vendor software
  • Manage stakeholder relationships effectively
  • Prioritize projects to align with business goals
  • Oversee the delivery and maintenance of applications within the Fixed Income domain
  • Coordinate and assist as needed with second-level support for all trading and operational incidents
  • Utilize AI tools such as GitLab, Windsurf, and Co-Pilot to enhance development processes
  • Provide guidance on the development of unit test cases with a view to integration into CI/CD pipelines

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • 15+ years of experience in the financial industry with a minimum of 7 years in a leadership role
  • 10+ years of experience working with Fixed Income products and associated electronic workflows
  • Proficiency with software languages relevant to the role
  • Strong understanding of industry-standard trading protocols such as FIX and FpML
  • Proficiency with data standards and data modeling
  • Experience with text-based formats like XML and JSON
  • Strong proficiency with messaging frameworks such as MQ and Kafka
  • Experience with Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Integration
  • Familiarity with testing patterns and DevOps practices
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and containerization
  • Comfortable working in both Windows and Linux environments
  • Excellent people management and team leadership skills
  • Ability to mentor new graduates and lead by example

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in the securities or financial services industry focusing on Fixed Income products such as Treasuries, Corporate Bonds, Agencies, Commercial Paper, and Mortgages
  • Hands-on experience and working knowledge of Order Management Systems, Smart Order Routers, and Market Data Aggregators
  • Proven track record designing and implementing new systems and features independently
  • Experience developing market data feeds and feeds to downstream systems
  • Understanding of trade lifecycle events for fixed income products
  • Awareness of the regulatory landscape from a developer’s perspective
  • Production support experience with the ability to guide troubleshooting under pressure
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $127,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. 
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
