We offer hybrid working, with occasional presence at one of our Holland & Barrett offices in
London or Nuneaton for team collaboration, key meetings and events (typically once per

Intro
We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to join our supply chain technology team at Holland &
Barrett.
You’ll play a key role in building and improving the systems that keep our products moving
— from warehouses to customers — helping more people access health and wellness every
day.

What you’ll be doing
 Contribute to the design and development of backend systems within our supply chain
domain
 Build reliable, high-quality services that support logistics, stock management and
fulfilment
 Work closely with product, operations and engineering teams to deliver valuable
solutions
 Take ownership of features and improvements from idea through to delivery
 Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to team standards and best practices
 Support system performance, reliability and ongoing improvements
 Learn from others and actively contribute to a collaborative team environment

What you’ll bring
 Experience in software development using Java, Kotlin or similar languages
 Experience working with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring WebFlux or Project
Reactor
 Some experience or exposure to event streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka

 Experience working with databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, DynamoDB or similar)
 Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS
 Familiarity with modern development tools (e.g. Git, Maven, Docker, CI/CD pipelines)
 Understanding of APIs and distributed systems concepts
 Experience with testing practices and tools (e.g. unit testing, TDD)
 A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn and grow
