This role sits within CGI’s Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit, which delivers secure, mission-critical systems that support government agencies in highly sensitive environments.

Due to the nature of the work, this role requires eligibility for high-level UK Security Clearance (Sole British national, 10 years UK residency, and limited time spent outside the UK). The role is primarily onsite at a secure client location, five days per week.

Role Overview

As an Infrastructure Test Automation Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain test environments and automation frameworks that support complex, secure platforms.

You will work closely with engineers, testers, and client stakeholders to ensure systems are properly validated, reliable, and production-ready.

This role combines infrastructure engineering, automation, and testing within highly secure environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain complex test environments for capability assurance
• Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to provision VM and network infrastructure
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and configuration playbooks (e.g., Ansible)
• Support and improve CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with development teams
• Integrate automated test results into monitoring dashboards
• Ensure test outputs are documented, traceable, and accessible
• Design and maintain automation frameworks for infrastructure testing
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and team collaboration activities
• Engage directly with client stakeholders, including Product Owners and Design Authorities
• Promote knowledge sharing across teams and client environments

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with Docker and containerised environments
• Experience with Ansible for configuration management
• VMWare infrastructure experience
• Scripting skills in Bash
• Strong Python skills (including Pytest)
• Experience with Git / GitLab Enterprise
• Experience deploying virtualised workloads with L3/L4 networking
• Familiarity with automation frameworks (e.g. Robot Framework, Go, or vCentre tooling)
• Experience with Linux (RedHat/CentOS) or Windows (PowerShell) system administration
• CI/CD tooling experience (e.g. Jenkins)
• Experience with observability tools such as InfluxDB and Grafana
• Understanding of containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
