We offer a competitive salary, strong pension, private healthcare, and a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching), making you a CGI Partner rather than just an employee.

We are committed to inclusivity and diversity, building a strong community of tech talent and supporting careers across critical sectors, including the Armed Forces community.

This role sits within CGI’s Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit, focused on delivering secure, mission-critical systems for government clients.

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will work on mission-critical systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability across complex environments.

You will combine software engineering, automation, and infrastructure skills to build tooling, improve observability, and strengthen system resilience.

You will also work closely with engineering teams and clients to investigate incidents, reduce downtime, and continuously improve system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop automation scripts, tooling, and infrastructure as code solutions
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and engineering enablement platforms
  • Implement observability, monitoring, and alerting solutions
  • Investigate and resolve incidents in line with SLAs
  • Improve system reliability, performance, and scalability
  • Create technical documentation and user guides
  • Collaborate with teams to support platform and service stability
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across engineering practices
  • Support design discussions and technical solution development

Required Skills & Experience

  • Background in software engineering (Java and/or Python preferred)
  • Experience building automation scripts, tools, or frameworks
  • Experience with CI/CD, observability, and alerting systems
  • Strong incident and problem-solving experience (SLA-driven environments)
  • Ability to create technical documentation and user guides
  • Strong interest in performance tuning and system optimisation
  • Willingness to learn and adapt across the technology stack

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with AWS
  • Linux and Windows system administration
  • Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Understanding of security protocols (PKI, TLS, etc.)
