Salary: Circa £92,500 dependent on skills and experiences + executive package

Role description:

The Head of Programme Integration and Planning for the Type 26 Programme leads, and is accountable for, planning governance, standards, integration, and professional discipline across the programme within the Programme Management Office. You will ensure planning across all value streams is aligned, coherent, and delivered consistently, while respecting the accountability of Projects, Delivery teams, and Value Streams. You will provide strategic frameworks, tools, and leadership to support planners embedded in delivery teams, maintaining excellence through functional guidance and assurance.

You will own the integrated planning architecture, set standards, and collaborate across engineering, supply chain, production, commissioning, and programme milestones to ensure effective integration. Acting as the central escalation point for planning issues, you will coordinate resolution and guide the Master Scheduler to ensure alignment with programme-level principles while delivery teams retain ownership of their plans.

Core duties:

  • Leading programme schedule integration and analysis to enable accurate forecasting, insight, and informed decision-making
  • Defining and governing programme-level planning strategy, standards, frameworks, and best practice across all value streams
  • Providing inclusive professional leadership to the planning community, with functional oversight of planners embedded within delivery teams
  • Acting as the central escalation point for planning issues, accountable to the Programme Director for coordinating resolution across delivery departments, value streams, and projects.
  • Ensuring integrated planning coherence, aligning schedules with programme milestones, governance requirements, and cross-functional dependencies
  • Strengthening planning capability, tools, and assurance, while partnering with Project Controls, Cost, Risk, and Reporting functions

Essential skills:

  • You demonstrate exceptional leadership, influencing, guiding, and evolving planning practices without direct delivery ownership
  • You act as the primary escalation point for planning issues, ensuring coordinated, timely, and effective resolution
  • You hold advanced analytical skills to interpret complex data and drive clear, aligned understanding across teams
  • You can communicate and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders across delivery, engineering, production, and functions
  • You lead cross-functional alignment, integrating planning with project controls, risk, cost, and delivery priorities
  • You can coach and develop planning professionals, strengthening capability and enhancing the overall planning discipline, commercial disputes across major programmes
  • Degree in Business, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience); professional certifications is desirable (e.g., APM ChPP, MSP)
